Published 1:30 am Saturday, June 13, 2026
Grays Harbor County Emergency Management has issued a heat advisory from 11 a.m. Sunday through 5 a.m. Tuesday.
Expect high temperatures of 90 degrees to 95 degrees across the foothills of the western and southern Olympic Peninsula, including areas along U.S. Highway 101, the Willapa hills and the lower Chehalis River Valley. High temperatures of 90 degrees to 100 degrees are forecast in the middle Chehalis River Valley, including McCleary, Montesano and Elma. Overnight lows should cool to about 60 degrees.
The warmest daytime high temperatures are expected Monday afternoon and the warmest overnight lows are expected Monday night into Tuesday morning. Areas away from water may see localized areas of major heat risk.
If you seek cooler temperatures, head to the coast. High temperatures are forecast for 72 degrees Saturday, 77 degrees Sunday and 69 degrees on Monday at Ocean Shores.
Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible.
Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. Vehicle interiors can reach dangerous temperatures within minutes, even with windows cracked open.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency. Call 911.
