Ocosta, North Beach and Pe Ell-Willapa Valley each won on Monday as we review Twin Harbors prep baseball action.

PREP BASEBALL

Ocosta 8, Oakville 1

Ocosta’s Torence Bonina had a big day at the plate in an 8-1 win over Oakville on Monday in Westport.

The Wildcats (4-2 overall) tied the game at 1-1 with the Acorns (1-2) thanks to a Bonina RBI single and took a 4-1 lead with three in the bottom of the third, highlighted by a Bonina two-run double.

The Wildcats infielder/catcher wasn’t done, spearheading a three-run Ocosta fourth with another two-run double and capping off his six RBI game with a double in the sixth to score shortstop Troy Griffith for an 8-1 lead.

That was plenty of run support for Ocosta starter Logan White, who allowed an unearned run on one hit with two walks and eight strikeouts in three innings pitched.

Bryce Bottelson (3 IP, 0R, H, BB, 5K) and Hudson Hartill (IP, 0R, 0H, BB, K) pitched in relief for the Wildcats.

Bonina went 4-for-4 with three doubles, two runs scored and six RBI. Griffith had two hits, scored three runs and stole three bases for Ocosta.

The Wildcats face Wahkiakum at 4 p.m. on Friday in Westport.

Pe Ell-Willapa Valley 13, Onalaska 3

Pe Ell-Willapa Valley opened the first game of a doubleheader against Onalaska with a 13-3 win on Monday in Pe Ell.

The Titans (4-2) scored 10 runs in a first inning that included five straight singles, taking a 10-1 lead when left fielder Deacon Green scored on a passed ball.

PWV extended its lead over the Loggers (0-8) with three runs in the third, highlighted by a two-run double from pitcher Mauricio Morales.

Morales allowed three runs (two earned) on nine hits and a walk with eight strikeouts to earn the five-inning victory. Center fielder Cash Ruddell, catcher Eddie Clements and shortstop Max Jarvis had two hits apiece for PWV.

Pe Ell-Willapa Valley 12, Onalaska 2

Pe Ell-Willapa Valley completed the sweep with a 12-2 win over Onalaska in the second game of a doubleheader on Monday in Pe Ell.

The Titans led 3-0 in the bottom of the third inning before blowing the game open with seven runs, highlighted by a three-run double from catcher Eddie Clements to go up 9-0.

Shortstop Max Jarvis later scored on a passed ball to make it a 10-0 game at the end of three frames.

PWV would complete the mercy-rule, walk-off victory when outfielder Deacon Green singled to drive in third baseman Mauricio Morales in the fifth.

Pitcher Kaeden Blain earned the win, allowing two runs on five hits with six strikeouts in 4 1-3 innings pitched.

Braden Neva allowed a walk in 2-3 innings of hitless relief for the Titans.

PWV’s offense was led by Green, who had two hits in the game. Morales had four stolen bases for a Titans team that swiped 14 bags in the win.

PWV hosts Napavine at 3 p.m. on Tuesday.

North Beach 15, Chief Leschi 0

North Beach hammered Chief Leschi 15-0 in the first game of a doubleheader on Monday in Ocean Shores.

The Hyaks (2-3, 2-2 2B Pacific) scored early and often against the Warriors (0-5, 0-4), taking an 8-0 lead after two innings of play, drawing 11 walks without recording a base hit.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Hyaks put the game away with seven runs, highlighted by a three-run triple off the bat of first baseman Owen O’Harte to take a 14-0 lead.

O’Hare would then cross the plate on an error to extend the lead to 15-0.

Pitcher Davy Carpenter earned the win for the Hyaks, allowing one hit and three walks with nine strikeouts in five scoreless innings of work.

Five different batters collected a hit for North Beach, with O’Hare and center fielder Malik Patton driving in four and three runs, respectively.

The Hyaks play at Mary M. Knight at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
