Rain dampens, doesn’t drown Summerfest

From a citywide scavenger hunt to games and live music, the first ever Summerfest in Aberdeen on Saturday had a little of everything. Rain forced the event to move from Zelasko Park to the Tesla charging station, and attracted a decent crowd despite the poor weather.
One of the highlights was a scavenger hunt that covered 30 downtown locations. Participants had their maps stamped by store employees, wandering through town before ending up at the main festival area in the Tesla charging lot, where people danced to live jazz music and played games.
Some game stations had standard ring tosses or limbo to win tickets for prizes, but others included a board with a large painted face with massive holes cut out for the nostrils that children would stick their hands through to grab from a prize basket.
