CHEHALIS — Chehalis carded six scores in the 40s to come away with a victory over Aberdeen in an Evergreen 2A Conference match at Newaukum Valley Golf Course on Monday.

Aberdeen’s Brendan King and Chehalis’ Will Alexander shared medalist honors, each shooting a round of 38. Grant Larson finished with a 41 for Aberdeen.

“This is the first time our team got to play Newaukum Valley,” Aberdeen coach Dan Sundstrom said. “This is back to back 38s for Brendan, so I think he is on the right track heading into districts. Grant had his best round of the year.”

Aberdeen will be out of action until the District IV 2A tournament on Oct. 19 and 20 at Mint Valley Golf Course in Longview.

Trailblazers 5, Chokers 1

CENTRALIA — Grays Harbor’s Ashley Marshall broke the shutout late in this NWAC Western Division loss at Tiger Stadium on Saturday night.

Marshall knocked home the Chokers’ lone goal in the 88th minute when she finished weaving through a tight Tiger defense for a shot and goal just inside the low left post. Centralia scored in the fourth, 29th, 50th, 54th and 67th minute.

“We created more opportunties up top in this game than in the prior five games; we finally put one in,” GHC head coach Chris Schumacher said.

The Chokers were without Taylor Birdsall, Deisy Beas and Anya Marcisz due to injury.

Schumacher cited Marshall for her energy, Brittani Snook for her free kicks and Roni Crone on defense.

On Wednesday, GHC (0-0-8, 1-1-10) will travel to division-leading Highline at Starfire Sports Complex.
