It took 10 innings to decide Wednesday’s marquee matchup featuring two of the top teams in the 2A class.
When the final out was recorded, Aberdeen was on the wrong side of a one-run loss after watching a golden opportunity to secure a victory slip through its fingers.

Aberdeen (8-1, 3-1 2A Evergreen) trailed 1-0 after Thunderbirds catcher Jaime Haase hit a solo home run off Camp in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Ferguson held the Bobcats scoreless through six innings and had Aberdeen down to its final out when Camp was intentionally walked to load the bases.

Aberdeen had an opportune chance to close out the victory in the bottom half of the inning with two outs and the tying run on third base. Camp got Sarah Stevens to pop up in the infield, but no Bobcats player called for the ball as it fell in between a trio of Aberdeen defenders, allowing Ferguson to score the tying run.
Aberdeen was held scoreless in the top of the 10th despite a walk and two singles in the inning, but multiple base-running mistakes ended the Bobcats potential rally.
Tumwater (6-1, 4-0) secured the victory by loading the bases with one out against Camp.
Zoe Fields then singled to left to score Brielle Womach with the game-winning run.
Aberdeen collected 12 hits against Ferguson, led by Yakovich, who continues her stellar season with four hits.

Ferguson, a Sacramento State signee, and Camp, who intends to pitch for Grand Canyon University next season, were workhorses on the mound.
Ferguson earned the win, allowing two earned runs on 12 hits and seven walks with 15 strikeouts in 10 innings pitched, throwing 184 pitches (119 for strikes) in the process.
