Bearcats 38, Bobcats 7
CHEHALIS —A big second quarter led ninth-ranked Chehalis past Aberdeen in an Evergreen 2A Conference game Friday at Chehalis.
The Bearcats only put up one touchdown, a conversion and a field goal in the first quarter but managed to put up 21 points in the second quarter to lead 31-0 at the half.
Chehalis scored its last touchdown in the fourth quarter.
The lone touchdown for the Bobcats (0-1, 2-3) came in the fourth quarter on a 3-yard run by Aidan Neely.
“I thought we tackled well, we had a six-minute period when they scored the bulk of their points in the first half,” said Aberdeen head coach Kevin Ridout. “We drove down and made two or three mistakes and all of a sudden were out of the money.”
Kylan Touch carried the ball 27 times for 166 yards. He also had an interception and a fumble recovery. The Bobcats were 4 for 18 through the air for 28 yards and two interceptions.
By no means is that on the quarterback,” Ridout noted, as Ben Dublanko was consistently pressured into getting rid of the ball quickly.
“I think they’re a fine team and have good quickness and speed,” Ridout said. “But I think that if we could take those six minutes back it would’ve been a lot closer game.”
Aberdeen hosts Black Hills on Friday.
