Montesano 61, Tenino 15
Montesano won for the eighth time in its past nine games with a dominant 61-15 victory over Tenino on Monday in Tenino.
The Bulldogs (12-5 overall, 5-0 1A Evergreen) continued their romp through the league schedule by hammering a young Beavers squad, jumping out to a 25-0 lead after one quarter of play.
Monte led 43-6 by halftime and held the Beavers (4-12, 1-4) scoreless in the third quarter.
Sophomore guard Tieander Olson (19 points, 6 assists, 7 steals), junior forward Jillie Dalan (18 pts.) and senior Hazel Jones (10 pts., 5 reb.) each scored in double figures while senior forward Ava Schrader led Monte with seven rebounds.
The Bulldogs shot 49% from the field on 27-of-55 shooting and outrebounded Tenino 26-15.
Montesano forced 28 turnovers while committing just 11 in the game.
“We got out to a very good start and came out with a lot of intensity,” Monte head coach Mark Mansfield said. “We were pretty efficient and pretty fast. … Just a real solid effort, especially on the defensive end. We shared the ball really well. It was a good win.”
Montesano hosts Hoquiam in a key 1A Evergreen League matchup at 6:45 p.m. on Friday in Montesano.

Elma 52, Heritage 49
Elma’s Nency Guzman hit the big shot to give the Eagles a 52-19 comeback victory over 3A-class Heritage on Monday at Elma High School.
The Eagles (4-8) trailed 32-16 at halftime after scoring just eight points in each of the first two quarters.
But the Elma offense woke up in the second half, trimming the Timberwolves’ lead to 38-31 by the end of the third quarter.
Tied at 49-all with 11 seconds left in the game, Guzman hit a 3-pointer to put Elma up 52-49 and secure the victory.
The Eagles shot 40% from the field on 21-of-53 shooting.
It was a tale of two halves for Elma as the Eagles hit 8-of-27 shots in the first half (30%) and 13 of 26 in the second half (50%).
Elma went 8 of 15 from the field (57%) and hit 3-of-4 free throws in the fourth quarter, with Guzman scoring all eight of her points in the frame.
Junior guard Olivia Moore led Elma with 20 points while sophomore forward Keke Bol also scored in double digits with 12 points.
Freshman guard Mikayla Roberts scored nine points for the Eagles.
Elma hosts Rochester in a 1A Evergreen League game at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday in Elma.
