A 30-year-old Aberdeen woman was arrested Sunday morning after returning a wallet to the victim she allegedly stole it from during a vehicle prowl the night before, according to Aberdeen police.
The same woman was released from the Aberdeen jail around 11:30 p.m. Saturday night, police said.
At about 7:30 a.m. Sunday, a man reported to police that his 1990 Ford F-150 had been prowled in the 300 block of North F Street overnight and that his wallet was taken. The vehicle prowler left behind Aberdeen Municipal Court paperwork and some clothing, including the sweatshirt the suspect was wearing in her booking photo from the night before, according to police.
Later Sunday morning, the woman returned a wallet to the owner of the truck before walking into the Aberdeen police station lobby to visit an inmate. While in the lobby, she was identified by police and arrested for vehicle prowling in the second degree, police said.
Police reminded the public to lock vehicle doors and not to leave valuables in unattended vehicles.
