Last week the U.S. Coast Guard Station Grays Harbor’s 47-foot motor lifeboat crew responded to a 62-foot fishing vessel, weighing well over 100 displacement tons, disabled and adrift 26 nautical miles northwest of the Grays Harbor bar. Their lifeboat crew towed the vessel for 11 hours and safely crossed the bar in 14-foot seas with restricted visibility. Their watchstanders are always monitoring VHF/FM channel 16, the frequency for International hailing and distress.
