Traditional nurses’ pinning ceremony Saturday at GHC

An annual event since the 1970s honoring the year’s nursing program graduates

Grays Harbor College graduating nursing students will be honored at the traditional Nurses’ Pinning Ceremony Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Bishop Performing Arts Center. Planned by the Student Nursing Association, the annual event focuses on the individual graduates, their instructors in the associate degree program and the history of the college’s nursing program.

Kenzie McFadden and Nichole Franks are co-chairs of the ceremony, said college spokesperson Jane Goldberg. The ceremony first took place in the 1970s and still includes a symbolic candle-lighting conclusion. Friends and families of the student nurses are invited to attend.
