A 28-year-old South Aberdeen man was arrested in connection with a stolen car on Friday and may face further drug charges for possessing suspected heroin.
About 20 minutes after a 1998 Honda Accord was reported stolen from the 1000 block of Macfarlane Street, police contacted a 28-year-old driver of a 2002 Ford Explorer who was reported to be slumped over and possibly not breathing, according to APD Lt. C.J. Chastain.
While speaking with the man, police noted a checkbook and prescription medication bottles in open view with the name of the victim from the vehicle theft on them. After a call to the officer taking the vehicle theft report confirmed that she didn’t know the man, he was arrested for possession of stolen property and his truck was seized pending a search warrant, Chastain said.
After obtaining a search warrant, police found more property belonging to the victim, suspected heroin and associated paraphernalia. The man may face a drug charge with intent to deliver, according to Chastain. The stolen car was found in the 1000 block of Stockwell Street, about one block away from the victim’s house. The investigation is continuing.
