Red Flag Warning issued for Pacific County

Extreme fire danger

SOUTH BEND — The National Weather Service in Portland has issued a Red Flag Warning, which replaces a previously issued Fire Weather Watch, for all of Pacific County, which is in effect from 11 a.m. Aug. 1 to 11 p.m. Thursday Aug. 3.

A Red Flag Warning is issued for weather events which may result in extreme fire behavior. A Fire Weather Watch is issued when weather conditions could exist in the next 12 to 72 hours. A Red Flag Warning is the highest alert. During these times extreme caution is urged by all residents.

The National Weather Service is forecasting north to northwest winds and relative humidity as low as 19 percent. An outdoor burn ban is already in effect in all of Pacific County.
