Hoquiam police seeking suspect in shooting incident

The Hoquiam Police Department is seeking the suspect in a shooting incident that occurred on Simpson Avenue on Tuesday morning.

Schawn James Cruze, 50, is sought after police were called to a residence for a report of shots fired, according to the news release. Following the call at 7:42 a.m, officers arrived within two. minutes and contacted a resident who said that Cruze, who was known to him, had arrived at his residence, refused to leave, got in an argument, pointed a gun, and fired a round, missing, at the resident. Cruze left the residence traveling eastbound on foot, located on the 2700 block of Simpson Avenue.

Officers recovered evidence from the scene that appears consistent with the witness statement, according to the news release.

Cruze is a white male, standing approximately 6 foot 1 inches, with brown eyes and medium-length brown hair, last seen in a red and black sweatshirt and gray pants. He’s considered armed and dangerous, according to the news release, and shouldn’t be approached; anyone witnessing him should call 911.
