Hoquiam police pursue truck into Aberdeen, suspect arrested

Hoquiam police pursued a 1990 Ford Ranger across the Simpson Avenue bridge and into Aberdeen after trying to pull it over for traffic violations just before 11 p.m. Wednesday night, according to a police department release.

After crossing the bridge, the truck, with two male occupants, turned south, the wrong way, onto 23rd Street, the release said. The truck continued at a high rate of speed on Aberdeen and Simpson Avenues and the pursuit continued into Aberdeen, the release said. When the truck turned the wrong way onto Alder Street, police stopped the pursuit due to the danger involved, according to the release.

A short time later, an Aberdeen officer located the truck abandoned in the 100 block of South Lincoln Street, the release said. A citizen with information about the pursuit told police one of the suspects was in a nearby house, the release said.

The suspect, who had an outstanding warrant from the Department of Corrections, agreed to come out of the house and was taken into custody, the release said. The truck was impounded and the owner is cooperating with the ongoing investigation, according to police.
