Hoquiam man arrested after crashing into apartment complex

A car driven by a reportedly impaired Hoquiam man crashed into an apartment building at the corner of 16th and Riverside early Friday morning, according to the Hoquiam Police Department.

Police were alerted shortly before 12:30 a.m. that a dark colored Toyota pickup had crashed into the complex, then fled the scene toward the Woodlawn area. Arriving officers observed extensive damage to the corner of the complex, but no residents were hurt, according to police. A Toyota emblem was found among the debris.

A Hoquiam officer located the suspect vehicle in the 800 block of Broadway and contacted the 22-year-old registered driver. Police said the “suspect was highly impaired,” and admitted to crashing his car and taking off. He was arrested for driving under the influence and hit and run.
