Grays Harbor County employees back to work Monday

Grays Harbor County Commissioners announced Friday a resolution was approved to bring county employees back to work starting Monday. County facilities, however, remain closed to public access.

”Government functions are listed as essential on the governor’s order and the county has continued to work during this time, at a limited capacity,” read a statement from commissioners. “The commissioners have determined that employees need to be brought back to work in order for essential functions to continue long term, as long as social distancing and other health and safety measures are in place.”

Most county staff have been working during this crisis, and the county’s return-to-work resolution will only affect a small portion of county staff, according to the statement.

The commissioners individually held meetings with department administrators and elected officials to discuss safe work options. Telecommuting, social distancing, health screening and additional sanitation measures are in place, according to the commissioners’ statement, and all departments are required to submit and adhere to the Governor’s stay healthy order.

“Every effort is being made to keep employees safe during this time,” read the statement.

All county facilities remain closed to the public until further notice. Up-to-date information is provided on the county’s website — http://www.co.grays-harbor.wa.us/ — and department pages for how business is being conducted during this time. The public may phone or email individual departments for assistance.
