Two people were injured and one is facing a negligent driving charge after a four-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon on Interstate 5 near Winlock, according to a report from the Washington State Patrol.

Driver Brandon M. Ault, 39, of Grayland, is facing a negligent driving charge.

According to the state patrol, a 2015 Kia Soul driven by Heidi M. Vogl, 44, of Everett, was stopped for traffic at milepost 63 of northbound I-5. Two additional vehicles, a 2008 Pontiac G6 driven by Lydia M. Stewart, 30, of Seattle, and a 2015 Subaru Forester driven by Jeanie L. Ross, 65, of Anderson Island, stopped behind the first vehicle.

Ault, driving a 2001 GMC Yukon, reportedly came up behind the three vehicles and changed lanes in an attempt to avoid the stopped traffic. However, he reportedly struck the Pontiac and Subaru.

The GMC then hit the Kia, and stopped on the right shoulder.

The crash was caused by driving too fast for conditions, according to the state patrol.

Ault was not injured, but a passenger, Lisa M. Ault, 45, of Tacoma, was injured and transported to Providence Centralia Hospital.

Ross was also injured and transported to Providence. The GMC, Pontiac and Subaru were all totaled, according to the state patrol.
