At 1 p.m. Saturday, Dr. Cyndi Romine, founder of Called to Rescue, will present a free information talk about the organization.
According the group’s website: “Called To Rescue is a nonprofit organization that helps rescue children who are missing, have been abused or trafficked. Called To Rescue also leads an awareness and prevention campaign to advocate for the protection of children victimized by abuse.”
Romine will talk about statistics on child sex trafficking, give tips on how to keep children safe and provide some self defense tips.
There are 23 Task Forces for Called to Rescue in the United States including four in the state of Washington; Dr. Romine is hoping to see one started in Grays Harbor. Members of the task force become “eyes and ears” for the local police forces. They will receive information about lost, runaway or abducted children in Grays Harbor. Then they’ll watch for the kids and when one is spotted, the task force member will be asked to notify the local police force.
Everyone 12 and older is invited to the presentation in the downstairs meeting room of the Hoquiam Timberland Library.
