Byron Hyde, former Hoquiam council member, dies

Byron Hyde, a longtime Hoquiam City Councilman, died Tuesday at the age of 88.

Hyde had a career of more than 20 years on the council and served until about five years ago.

He had worked at Weyerhaeuser.

On the council he pushed hard for the renovation of the old train depot, which is now used by the state Department of Licensing, and he was a strong supporter of the creation of a 9-1-1 dispatching system.

Information about a possible service was not available.
