Arrest made in drug task force investigation

Thousands of dollars in cash and a pound of meth was seized

The Grays Harbor Drug Task Force, with assistance from the Washington State Patrol, made an arrest as part of an ongoing investigation in distribution in the county.

A 55-year-old Hoquiam man was arrested and detained in the Hoquiam city jail with charges pending, said Sgt. Darrin King of the task force.

The arrest took place on Thursday, Jan. 4, according to a news release from the Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Office. Following a traffic stop and an arrest of the driver for an outstanding Hoquiam warrant, the vehicle was searched by a narcotics K-9 team, according to the news release.

Approximately $7,610 was located on the driver’s person, and about a pound of suspected methamphetamine and approximately 400 suspected fentanyl pills were located in the vehicle, according to the news release. The meth would retail at the street level for several thousand dollars, said King in a phone interview.

Anyone with further information on drug activity in the county is asked to contact the task force at 360-500-4141, according to the news release.
