Doug Twibell receives award

Doug Twibell of Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen received the Washington State Funeral Directors Association Lifetime Service Award for his commitment and service to his community and to the funeral profession.

Doug has served in the funeral profession since 1960. He attended Washington State University in Pullman and continued his education at California College of Mortuary Science in Los Angeles.

In 1994, he and his wife, Barbara Twibell, purchased Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen. He sold the business to his son and his wife, Keith and Heather Twibell in 2019 and retired shortly after. He still helps out at services and helps the occasional family. He can be found mostly mowing the lawns at Fern Hill Funeral Home.

Doug was President of the Washington State Funeral Directors Association in 1991-92 and served for seven years on the National Funeral Directors Association Policy Board. He’s also a past president of the Aberdeen Rotary Club.
