A view of Kurt Cobain Memorial Park shows a Grays Harbor Transit bus as it rolls north across Young Street Bridge. While the park shouldn’t receive an impact from any potential bridge replacement, the bridge itself may go away in the next few years. The city hired consultants in September. Some of the consultants’ preliminary investigative work begins Monday. The work will cause lane closures on Young Street.

On Tuesday morning, Rognlin’s, Inc. tore down the former Bridges Restaurant, 112 N. G St., in Aberdeen. The restaurant closed in Oct. 2012, according to Lauren Nichol, former night shift supervisor at Bridges. The building’s owner ordered the teardown, according to Lisa Scott, community development director for the city of Aberdeen. Nichol, who worked there from 1998 until the day the restaurant closed, provided a comment after finding out Bridges was demolished. “I’m glad, it made me sad to look at it that way,” Nichol said. “It was a great place to work.”
