Greg Rekus, a long-time musician from Winnipeg, Canada, danced, stomped and jumped on the stage at The Loading Dock so much to the point he needed Gorilla tape applied to the tambourines so they’d not fall off while he performed. One of the ways Rekus described his energetic music was “trashy acoustic,” and the audience loved his style.

Tim Holehouse, an English musician who the late Kurt Cobain inspired to pick up the guitar, performed in front of a small audience underneath the Young Street Bridge. In front and to his right is the message “RIP Kurdt,” in reference to Cobain’s death. Behind Holehouse’s head, is a painting of Cobain’s face.

This isn’t a cave. This is a close-up view of the fountain in front of Aberdeen City Hall. The artistic piece is called “Heaven, Man and Earth,” and it’s by George Tsutakawa. The piece is dated 1997. However the icicles and what appears to be blue dye are new. They popped up sometime in the last couple days.

The consultants for the city of Aberdeen, David Evans and Associates, Inc. (DEA), gave a presentation on the North Aberdeen Bridge Project to Aberdeen City Council and many of its residents Wednesday night. The project has included numerous meetings with the public and will continue to engage the public as it moves forward. The move forward will not be complete without “brainstorming alternatives,” according to the slideshow from DEA. Many in the community want to preserve the bridge for its connection to the late-Kurt Cobain, but safety seems to be the city’s No. 1 concern with the bridge.

Traffic yields for a driver at the edge of the roundabout on Market Street in Aberdeen. The roundabout could get a facelift in 2024 after the city council approved Aberdeen's Parks and Recreation Director Stacie Barnum to apply for a $50,000 grant from Grays Harbor Community Foundation. While the overall council approved, not everyone was onboard as they cited concerns about safety for the drivers and the pedestrians who use the roundabout. (Matthew N. Wells / The Daily World)
