Hoquiam library closure set for Oct. 11

The Hoquiam Timberland Regional Library will close for renovations in a few weeks, said Hoquiam city administrator Brian Shay Friday.

“It looks like it will start on Oct. 11,” he said.

The $1 million project will include improvements inside and outside the building at 420 7th St., including exterior and interior painting, new windows, new energy efficient lighting, more electrical outlets, new carpet, ADA compliant doors, and heating and ventilation improvements. The renovation is funded by grants and private donations.

The library will be closed for about six weeks, with an anticipated reopening shortly after Thanksgiving. Library manager Mary Thornton said she plans to organize a grand re-opening shortly after the construction is complete.

Staff and some items will be spread out among the other Timberland Regional Library locations in the county, including Aberdeen.
