More than 200 volunteers banned together with Washington CoastSavers to remove plastic pollution on 50 beaches along the outer coast and into the Strait of Juan de Fuca Saturday, Sept. 17. Their efforts were part of International Coastal Cleanup’s global cleanup project organized by the Ocean Conservancy.

In 2015, nearly 800,000 volunteers collected over 18 million pounds of trash from shorelines around the world. This is the fourth year Washington CoastSavers has participated in the International Coastal Cleanup. The next coast-wide beach cleanup will take place April 29, 2017.
