McCleary VFW Post collecting donations for those affected by Spokane wildfire

The Veterans of Foreign Wars, Department of Washington, is coming together to support veterans, families, and community members affected by the devastating fires in the Spokane area.

Under the leadership of Department Commander Frank Persa, VFW Posts, members, Auxiliary members, and communities across Washington are being asked to help fill a U-Haul with urgently needed supplies. All items collected will be given out to anyone who has been affected by the fires, not just veterans.

Items needed include:

Clean, serviceable clothing

New shoes

Non-perishable food

Bottled water, hydration drinks and other hydration items

Diapers and baby formula

Blankets and comfort items

Paper plates, cups and disposable utensils

Other essential items that can help individuals and families displaced by the fires

The McCleary VFW Post 5564 will collect items on Tuesday, Aug. 11 from 4 to 7 p.m.
