Jeffrey Dunn to read from Radio Free Olympia Thursday at TRL Aberdeen and Westport
Author Jeffrey Dunn will appear Thursday at the Timberland Regional Library Westport from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Aberdeen Thursday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Dunn will read from Radio Free Olympia, his critically acclaimed, magically realistic novel. Dunn weaves the threads of many voices into a complex ecological tapestry. Marrying prose and poetry, fiction and history, the hard-boiled and the transcendent, Radio Free Olympia takes us out of our current planetary discord and brings us back into spiritual harmony.
Transanything book launch at Orca Books Cooperative in Olympia
Orca Books Cooperative will hold an author event with Ever Jones on Sept. 20 from 7 to 9 p.m. Jones is a queer/trans writer, artist and professor of creative writing at the University of Washington Tacoma. Transanything, an essay collection (Northwestern University Press), was released in August. Their poetry books include nightsong and Wilderness Lessons. Their work can be found in many anthologies and journals such as Kenyon Review and POETRY.
Ocean Shores Public Library to hold 3rd Annual Local Authors Fair Oct. 4
The 3rd Annual Ocean Shores Public Library Local Authors Fair is set for Saturday, Oct. 4. Drop in anytime between 10 a.m. to noon or 2 to 4 p.m. to meet talented local authors from around the region. Discover new titles across many genres while you enjoy refreshments and chat with your neighbors. Don’t miss this opportunity to connect with your vibrant local literary community.
3rd Annual PNW Authors Fair
The Third Annual PNW Authors Book Fair will be at the Peninsula Church Center in Seaview on Saturday, Oct. 4 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Over 30 authors will be on hand. Author readings will be from 10:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Keynote Q&A will be with Shoalwater Bay author Fredrick Cooper at 1 p.m. There will be Book Basket raffles. Breakfast burritos will be available for purchase.

Browsers Bookshop — Olympia
Poetry Workshop
Sept. 15, 22 and 29, 6 to 7 p.m.
Browsers bookseller Claire will lead the workshop, where participants will bring one poem to share with the group. Participants must attend all three sessions. The workshop dates are as follows: Sept. 15, 6 to 7 p.m., Sept. 22, 6-7 p.m., and Sept. 29, 6 to 7 p.m. To secure one of the 10 spots, please email Claire expressing your interest. The spots will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Poets will be asked to have a poem ready to exchange with the group on the night of the first meeting. They will spend the first week doing in-workshop writing exercises and introductions, while the following weeks will be dedicated to workshopping everyone’s work. Bring a notebook and writing utensil. Attendees must be 18 years of age or older.
(Nearly) Silent Writing Club — Sunday Edition
Sept. 21, 1 to 2:30 p.m.
Join Browsers in Olympia on the third Sunday of the month for Browsers (Nearly) Silent Writing Club to write together from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Participants say hello, have a brief conversation, and then write together in silence for an hour. Any type of writing, from journaling to an epic novel, is welcome. At the end, they do a quick check in. There is no critique or feedback on your work. Just time and space to write together. Meetings take place upstairs at Browsers — bring your notebook/pens/computer. (Please note: we are brimming with community but lacking in electrical outlets.) Feel free to bring a snack and/or beverage for yourself. There is no cost to attend. Star Wuerdemann hosts. Browsers is located at 107 Capitol Way N. in Olympia.

Hoquiam Writers Group

This group is open to all writers who want to attend: writers, poets, journalists, wordsmiths and storytellers. The group meets monthly on the first Thursday.

Ocean Shores Public Library Book Group

The book for September is a fictional novel, Hum and the Shiver, by Alex Bledsoe. The Ocean Shores Book Group meets on the third Friday of each month at 3 p.m. in the Library Meeting Room. Ocean Shores Friends of the Library sponsor this program, and purchase 10 copies of each title to be checked out for two weeks. Harbor Books — Hoquiam All-Genre Book Club

The all-genre book club meets the last Sunday of the month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to discuss the book selected by group members the previous month.
