Raymond beat Ocosta in boys hoops for the second time this season as we review prep sports action on the Harbor.
PREP BOYS BASKETBALL
Raymond 52, Ocosta 47
Raymond edged Ocosta 52-47 in a 2B Pacific League game on Tuesday at Ocosta High School.
The game was close throughout, with Ocosta (3-8 overall, 2-5 2B Pacific) holding a slim 22-19 at the half.
Raymond (7-5, 5-2) got its offense going in the second half, outscoring the Wildcats 19-14 in the fourth quarter, hitting 9-of-13 (69%) free throws as a team in the process.
Chris Quintana and Chris Banker led the Seagulls with 18 and 12 points, respectively.
“We really struggled offensively tonight. Ocosta did a nice job defensively, but we also had poor offensive execution,” Raymond head coach Mike Tully said. “Luckily, we were able to get things going offensively a little bit in the second half and did just enough on both ends of the floor to pull out the win. Hopefully, we can clean some things up as we head into a tough stretch in our schedule.”
Ocosta was led by Jesus Agramon with 17 points.
Kayden Turner added nine points for the Wildcats, which had just 11 turnovers as a team.
“Tonight was our most complete game of the year. We kept our turnovers in check, we played pretty good defense for the most part and we moved the ball around extremely well,” Ocosta head coach Jason Quinby said. “Our goal was to keep the game in the 40s as we aren’t built to run this year and we almost accomplished that. Jesus Agramon did an outstanding job of running the point and distributing the ball while Noah Prigmore was his complement and did well helping handle Raymond’s press. The only thing that caused separation in the fourth was we gave up too many offensive rebounds that either led immediately to points or put them on the foul line. Overall, I was ecstatic with our execution of the game plan tonight and excited to get back to work in practice and build off of tonight’s game.”
Ocosta hosts Chief Leschi at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
Raymond hosts Ilwaco at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.

BOYS PREP SWIMMING
River Ridge 86, Aberdeen 85
Aberdeen had plenty of positives to take away from an 86-85 loss to River Ridge on Tuesday at River Ridge High School.
Zeke Olson led the way for Aberdeen with a victory in the 1-meter dive (172.30 points) and the 100 breaststroke (1:13.51).
Olson was also on the Bobcats’ winning 200-yard medley relay and 400 freestyle relay teams.
Denny Linker, Tyler Bates and Tyson Powell each won an individual race at the meet while Cole Nylander, Kevin Eng and Tyson Powell were commended by head coach Rob Burns for their time drops and performances.
“This was the first swim meet of the new year and it was a very competitive, closely contested dual meet against a very good River Ridge squad,” Burns said. “We are now getting into the time where we are finding out where everyone will be entering the final stretch of the regular and post-season. There were some big-time drops and some big performances. Despite the final score, this was a great day for the Bobcats.”
