Aberdeen’s Olson wins diving district crown

Bobcats sophomore competed against 3A-class divers on Saturday

Aberdeen sophomore Zeke Olson was awarded the 2A District 4 championship at the 2024 West Central 3A District 3 Diving Championships at Auburn High School.

Olson totalled 203.10 points after 11 dives to win the title, highlighted by a 13-point inward pike on his ninth dive and – after scoring a 9.5 on his 10th dive, his lowest score of the competition – responded with a 12.50-point inward somersault tuck on his final dive.

Olson placed eighth overall in the competition against 3A-class divers.

“Zeke had a great day today, earning a district title and a state-meet berth, while competing against some really good 3A divers from District 3,” Aberdeen head coach Rob Burns said. “Diving coach Carley Giles and Zeke have been working hard over the last several weeks and it is awesome to see it pay off. Also, a tip of the cap to the 3A District 3 organizers for allowing Zeke to compete with their divers today.”

Aberdeen’s swim team will be back in the pool on Friday at the 2A District 4 Championships at Mark Morris High School in Longview.
