Longtime Grays Harbor resident, Donald Loel Hively, age 58, passed Aug. 29, 2016, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen. He was the first child of Garrey L. Hively and Barbara N. Hively. He was born at Camp Pendleton, Calif., on Aug. 24, 1958.

Donald enjoyed creating videos and painting for his friends and family. He was an artist and photographer, gourmet cook, gardener and played music by ear and enjoyed reading the Bible. He was also very humorous and had a strong Christian faith.

Donald was an LPN in the U.S. Navy and was attached to the Marines. He had schooling in Field medical, basic hospital and Corps school.

Donald was preceded in death by his father Garrey; grandmother Callie Logan and grandfather Harold Hively; aunt Jeanie; Lee; brother Vince Vanderhoof; his longtime best friend Kathy Robertson. He is survived by his mother Barbara Vanderhoof; sisters Leah Hively-Smart and Anne Hively-Beatty; brothers Dave H. Hively and Daniel G. Hively; nieces Mary Powers and Sarah Chittick and nephews David Powers and David Kainalu-Hively. He is also survived by Gina, Debbie and Jared. Also, the amazing staff at C.C.A.P. A celebration of life with 21 gun salute will be held at Tohoma National Cemetery in Kent, Wash. at a later date to be announced in The Daily World.
