Firefighters were called to a large house fire Sunday in the 2400 block of East Hoquiam Road and another in the the 1000 block of Spruce Street in Hoquiam just a few hours later.

Fire District 10, the Wishkah Fire Department, responded to the first blaze on East Hoquiam Road about 11 miles north of Hoquiam after it was reported about 6:30 p.m. While no officials with District 10 were available for comment Monday, social media posts show a home fully engulfed in flames shortly after the fire was reported. There were also posts that indicated the home may have been occupied when the fire started but there have been no official reports of injuries so far.

The second fire, on Spruce Street in Hoquiam, was reported shortly after midnight. Hoquiam Fire Chief Paul Dean said the home was unoccupied and the house was a total loss. He expected to have more information Tuesday as the Hoquiam investigators wrap up their reports.

“Gone to the ground. My neighbor’s house,” wrote one social media commenter.

In both cases, the cause of the fire were still under investigation Monday afternoon.
