Two arrested after brief police pursuit in Hoquiam Sunday

Two people were arrested after a short police pursuit in Hoquiam Sunday night.

According to a police report, officer Christian Slater spotted a 2002 Toyota Camry near the 100 block of Adams Street around 9 p.m. and recognized the passenger in the vehicle as a subject wanted on a felony warrant for escaping community custody.

The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver drove into a dead-end roadway. The driver, a 37-year-old Hoquiam woman identified as the known girlfriend of the male suspect, was taken into custody for felony eluding, driving with a suspended license, and operating a motor vehicle without an ignition interlock device.

The male suspect, a 39-year-old Hoquiam man, fled into some nearby brush. The Aberdeen Police Department helped set up containment of the area, and the suspect was quickly tracked by K9 officer Ronin and his handler, officer Chad Pearsall, and arrested.
