Shoalwater Bay tribe offers drive through COVID-19 testing for qualified groups

The Shoalwater Bay Indian Tribe will be offering drive-through COVID-19 testing for people who are symptomatic and are in a qualifying group, according to Pacific County Sheriff’s Office Chief Criminal Deputy Pat Matlock.

To be tested at their facility, you must have one or more of the following symptoms:

1. Fever greater than 100.4 degrees;

2. Dry cough; or

3. Shortness of breath.

To be tested at their facility, you must be in one of the following groups:

1. Shoalwater Bay Tribal member and/or Native Americans living on the Shoalwater Bay Reservation.

2. Shoalwater Bay Tribal members living in Pacific County, Grayland and Westport.

3. Current Shoalwater Bay Medical Clinic patients from one of the following sub-groups:

a. Symptomatic pregnant women;

b. Symptomatic individuals who are immune compromised;

c. Symptomatic individuals who are over age 65;

d. Symptomatic healthcare employees, which includes ALL staff (like medical, maintenance, and kitchen staff) who work in healthcare facilities, long-term care, and assisted facilities, as well as home health care workers);

e. Symptomatic Public Safety workers, which includes law enforcement, corrections officers, fire fighters and EMS workers;

f. Symptomatic pharmacy and grocery store workers; and

g. Other symptomatic employees who work in a business that serve the public.

If you meet the criteria, an appointment can be made by calling the Shoalwater Bay Wellness Center at 360-267-0119. Testing appointment time will only be given after telephone screening is complete.

The testing will be conducted by appointment only. The testing dates are Tuesdays — April 14, April 21 and April 28. Two different testing times have been planned — between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and noon and between 1 and 3 p.m. You will be given the location of the testing upon confirmation of your appointment, said Matlock, who serves as public information officer for the county’s emergency operations center.
