DAN HAMMOCK | THE DAILY WORLD A semi carrying a shipping container rolled over Thursday morning on East Wishkah Street near the Mattress Ranch. The rig was eastbound and apparently failed to negotiate the sharp right hand curve, tipping the trailer on its side and destroying a large section of the concrete barrier between the east and westbound lanes.

A tractor trailer truck hauling a loaded shipping container rolled onto its side, dumping the container on East Wishkah Street Thursday morning, snarling westbound morning commute traffic for several hours.

The truck was eastbound and apparently failed to negotiate the right-hand turn as Hornsby Way turns into East Wishkah, near the Walmart and Mattress Ranch stores. A large section of the concrete divider between the east and westbound lanes was destroyed.

Traffic was blocked eastbound just across the Wishkah River bridge and westbound was reduced to one lane and at times closed as crews from Rognlin’s Construction used a crane to move the container and clean up the broken concrete divider. At around 8:30 a.m. traffic was backed up westbound to about Junction City.
