Scott chosen from nine candidates to fill Ocean Shores council vacancy

Out of a long list of candidates, Lisa Scott was selected Monday to fill the Ocean Shores City Council Position 5 vacancy.

“Ocean Shores is seeing a tremendous amount of growth and I want to be a part of that,” she said. “I want to do what I can to help.”

Scott — one of nine candidates for the position vacated by Steve Ensley — has worked for the City of Aberdeen for 21 years and has been the city’s Community Development Director for about 15 years.

“I’m hoping I can bring a different mix to the table of electeds,” using her long experience as a city staff person to the council to help develop policy, said Scott. “They have a great staff there and I just want to be able to help.”

Scott is a 1986 graduate of Montesano High School and holds an Associate of Arts degree from Grays Harbor College. She then attended Easter Washington University for three years, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in technical writing.

Her parents live in Ocean Shores and have operated a business in Aberdeen for 40 years. In her letter of interest, Scott said her mother served on the Montesano City Council for 15 years. Scott has served on several boards and is a past president of both the Grays Harbor United Way board and the Aberdeen Revitalization Movement.

Scott said she is “a proponent of small businesses and doing what we can to help them. I’m just excited for the opportunity to make a difference.”
