Overstock to hold meet and greets for Elma call center applicants

Reps from company will be on hand to talk about the positions, company, benefits

About a dozen representatives from Overstock.com will be in Grays Harbor County Jan. 24-26 to meet with prospective applicants for the 150 customer service jobs to be filled in the coming months at the online retailer’s new call center located in the Satsop Business Park.

According to a Friday release from Grays Harbor College, Overstock.com and WorkSource have been working with the college to plan the open forum events. Interested participants can drop by at any time during the sessions and are encouraged to bring resumes. No appointments are necessary.

The sessions Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 24 and 25, will take place on the Grays Harbor College Aberdeen campus in Room 4238 of the Schermer Building between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., and again from 4 to 6 p.m. Signs by the Bishop Center will direct people to reserved parking; the college will provide shuttle service from the Bishop Center to the Schermer Building for participants.

On Thursday, Jan. 26, Overstock.com representatives will be at Satsop Business Park, located at 150 Technology Lane in Elma, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the last meet and greet session.

Anyone interested in applying is encouraged to attend. Applications may also be submitted online at Overstock.com/careers. Overstock.com expects to hire 150 full-time customer service representatives for the new call center. The rate of pay is listed as $12.50 per hour with full medical, dental, vision, and life insurance benefits. There is also a 401k plan with an employer’s match.

Grays Harbor College has been having conversations with Overstock.com since September, well before the company’s announcement to place a call center at the Satsop Business Park. The relationship has grown from there.

“We will be doing some contract training for their employees after startup,” said Nancy Estergard, the college’s business and community coordinator. “Plus they have a tuition reimbursement program so their employees can register for regular classes at the college.”

Questions about this event should be directed to Estergard at 538-4012 or Loretta Thomas at WorkSource, 538-2372.
