Other nominees for Police Officer of the Year include:
Sgt. Shane Krohn, Hoquiam
Described as an exceptional member of the community, and of the police force, in his nomination, he was commended by a Hoquiam resident who was a neighbor to Bob Harmon, a World War II veteran murdered in his home. The resident was impressed by Krohn’s “indefatigable management” of the multi-agency response and his empathy for all impacted by the crime.
Sue Schultz, Elma Police chief
An Elma resident nominated Schultz, writing, “She is a wonderful chief and has cleaned up Elma a lot. She continues to work on drug problems and at the same time she is building a rapport with the community. I have a 6-year-old granddaughter that wants to be just like her.”
Sgt. Darrin King, Aberdeen
Hired by Aberdeen in 2000, King is described by a peer as “an exemplary officer, with a strong work ethic and can be counted on to do the absolute best, 100 percent of the time, no matter the job assigned.” In the nomination letter King is called a proactive supervisor who works closely with his crew to seek out and stop crimes even before they are reported.
