Ocean Shores Renewed Antique Show to begin Feb. 17

Three-day event to feature ‘First Peek’ showing, antique appraising, and more than 20 vendors

From vintage furniture and décor to classic cars and jewelry, antiquing allows enthusiasts and collectors from all over to experience a fascinating glimpse into history as well as the opportunity to own a piece of it. With many people expected to hit the roads for the upcoming three-day weekend, Ocean Shores could be the destination for antique shoppers looking to be captivated by the beauty and craftsmanship of timeless objects and hidden gems.

The 2023 Ocean Shores Renewed Antique Show is set to commence this weekend. The event, which will be hosted by the Ocean Shores Foodbank, will allow people to browse from more than 20 different antique vendors for items such as jewelry, signs, glassware and 18th and 19th-century silver, among others. Visitors will also be able to enjoy vendors supplying food and drinks as well as live music.

Dianne Hansen, the event coordinator for the antique show, expressed her excitement about the increasing popularity of the upcoming event given the festival is another year removed from pandemic restrictions, and noted that antiques are just one of many things for people to enjoy.

“We always say that we have antiques, but we also allow upcycled, vintage, whimsical, one-of-a-kind items,” Hansen said. “I’ve been in charge of the antique show for the last six years, but this event has been ongoing in the community for over 30 years.”

Given the longstanding history of the antique show in the community, Hansen estimates that more than a thousand people could visit the event over the weekend. She noted that games and activities will be set up for kids looking for some entertainment as well as that the antique vendors will be able to help guests appraise and give historical insight about antique items that they bring to the event.

To give the antique show some extra flair, Hansen said all the vendors will be participating in a beach theme for this year’s event. While the main portion of the event will commence over the weekend, there will be an opportunity for visitors to get a first crack at any hidden gems they find beforehand.

From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17, a “First Peek” of the antique show will commence allowing visitors to preview the event, listen to music, and enjoy alcoholic beverages and appetizers before the doors open to the public on Saturday. The two-hour preview will cost $20 and will give guests a weekend pass to come and go to the event anytime with all proceeds to be donated to the Ocean Shores Foodbank.
