Man arrested after breaking into Monte-Brady Road home

A 26-year-old man was arrested Tuesday after breaking into a residence in the 100 block of Monte-Brady Road.

Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the residence around 2 p.m., with the female resident reporting an unknown man armed with a golf club was in the home.

“It was later determined that the suspect broke out several windows of a vehicle parked at the incident location and also broke out a window on the front door of the incident location,” said Sheriff’s Office Chief Criminal Deputy Kevin Schrader. “The resident confronted the man inside her house and the man struck a container off a counter with the golf club before leaving the area on foot.”

Several deputies, along with officers of the Montesano Police Department, Elma Police Department, and state Department of Fish and Wildlife, all responded to the scene to assist, searching the area and setting up containment.

“An Aberdeen officer and his K-9 partner were then called to the scene to assist in locating the suspect,” said Schrader. “While waiting for the arrival of the K-9 unit, a vigilant bystander reported just seeing a man matching the suspect’s description climbing a fence in the neighborhood with a golf club in his hand. Officers responded to the area and located the suspect who was taken into custody without incident.”

The suspect was booked into the Grays Harbor County Jail for first degree burglary and first degree malicious mischief. Schrader said, “Deputies were concerned for the suspect’s mental health and an evaluation has been requested.”
