A Level 3 sex offender, considered a high risk to re-offend, has registered an address in Ocean Shores. According to a statement from Ocean Shores Police Sgt. David McManus, Cory Duane Wey, 18, has registered an address in the 600 block of Copalis Avenue NE.
In 2018, according to the sex offender notification, “Wey was accused of forcibly raping a female acquaintance. Within six weeks, and while he knew he was under investigation for the first assault, he forcibly raped another female acquaintance. He was tried and convicted in both rapes. While incarcerated he received sex offender treatment.”
Wey is described as white, 5-feet 10 inches tall, 185 pounds with blonde hair and green eyes.
Sex offender notifications are sent as information only to make citizens aware of the offender’s location. Wey is not currently wanted by police, and “The Ocean Shores Police Department has no legal authority to direct where a sex offender may or may not live,” according to the notification. “Unless court ordered restrictions exist, this offender is free to live wherever he or she chooses.”
