House sustains significant damage after fire late Monday

Damage to home estimated at $266,000, cause of blaze under investigation

A residence at 910 N. Thornton St. was severely damaged by a fire late Monday.

According to a release by Aberdeen Fire Department Battalion Chief Damon Lillybridge, fire personnel responded to the fire at 11:41 p.m. They arrived to find heavy fire and smoke coming from the front porch on the north side of the two-story home. They determined the fire extended throughout the attic area, causing extensive damage to the roof and second story. There were no injuries reported.

Fire crews were able to contain and extinguish the fire before it could do more damage to the first floor. Lillybridge said 10 Aberdeen firefighters and two Hoquiam firefighters teamed up to put out the fire and were on scene for about three hours. The cause of the fire is undetermined, and smoke and fire damage to the home and property is estimated at $266,000.
