Hoquiam school leader interviews to be held Wednesday, Thursday

Public can meet all four candidates, board hopes to pick new superintendent by March 20

The four finalists for Hoquiam Schools superintendent will be interviewed this Wednesday and Thursday, and the public can meet all of candidates during the interview process.

The district staff interviews will be located in the Hoquiam High School Library. The Administrator and Community interviews will be located in the Hoquiam High School Little Theater.

Shannon Webster, currently Hoquiam’s assistant superintendent, will meet with the administration at 2 p.m., district staff at 3:30 p.m., the community at 4:40 p.m. and have her interview with the board at 5:30 p.m.

Richard McFarland, currently assistant superintendent with the Independence, Ore., school district, will get a tour of the district at 1:30 p.m., meet with administration at 3 p.m., district staff at 4:30 p.m., the community at 5:30 p.m., and interview with the board at 6:30 p.m.

Kurt Hilyard, now the superintendent of the Union Gap school district, will tour the district at noon, visit with administration at 2 p.m., district staff at 3:30 p.m., meet with the community at 4:30 p.m., and interview with the board at 5:30 p.m.

Mike Villarreal, Director of Federal and State Programs for the Othello School district, will tour the district at 1:30 p.m., meet with administration at 3 p.m., district staff at 4:30 p.m., be available to the community at 5:30 p.m., and have his interview with the board at 6:30 p.m. Villarreal was a finalist for the Aberdeen School District superintendent position.

The school board is expected to have a decision by March 20.
