Hoquiam hydrant flushing starts on Monday
Annual hydrant flushing will begin in Hoquiam Monday, Nov. 4 and continue through the end of December, the city announced Thursday.
This preventative maintenance program involves opening fire hydrants to create high velocity flows that scour and clean the inside of the about 61 miles of waterlines in the city.
Flushing hours are 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays, minus holidays. During this activity residents may notice discolored water or a change in water pressure. Check your tap water to make sure it’s clear before using it for drinking, cooking and clothes washing. If the water is discolored let the cold water tap flow for 5-15 minutes to flush and clear the plumbing.
