Foundation seeks gear for Community Hospital to help during coronavirus outbreak

Masks, gloves, antiviral wipes, gowns, other personal protective equipment needed in case of surge at Community Hospital

The Grays Harbor Community Hospital Foundation is asking for the public’s help by donating personal protective equipment (masks, gloves, antiviral wipes, etc.) to help during the outbreak of coronavirus, also known as COVID-19.

The donations would be tax deductible, according to a letter from the foundation, which follows:

Dear Beloved Community,

As we are all experiencing, these are challenging times. You may have heard that there is a nationwide shortage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Our Community Hospital is currently at critical levels of items such as N-95 masks, surgical masks, gloves, Caviwipes (antiviral cleaning wipes), isolation gowns, goggles, and face shields. Should Grays Harbor get the outbreak of COVID-19 that projections say is possible, Grays Harbor Community Hospital will run out of PPE without assistance. Global supply chains are disrupted and the items that our healthcare workers need to keep themselves and their patients safe are not available.

While the state and national government are trying to help, the process is slow and their focus is on the epicenter of the outbreak around Seattle.

The Grays Harbor Community Hospital Foundation is asking our neighbors to please help wherever they can. If you or your business has any unopened supplies from the list above, we ask that you donate them to the hospital. Organizations such as dental offices, construction firms, veterinarians, and agriculture utilize this type of equipment. If you or someone you know has access to this equipment, we can use your help.

The GHCH Foundation has decided to take the lead on this effort because we are dedicated to supporting the health of our community through the work being done at Community Hospital, but also as a 501(c)3 we can issue you a tax-deductible receipt for your donation. While we know this won’t be the driving force for most of you, we want to offer that back to you for your most generous donation.

These are challenging times for all of us, but together, we can make a difference. Thank you for your consideration and effort.
