A 23-year-old Aberdeen man was taken to the Grays Harbor Community Hospital with a non-life threatening leg injury after the bicycle he was riding hit a car in South Aberdeen just after 6 p.m. on Monday, according to the Aberdeen Police Department.

A 47-year-old driver of a 2014 Subaru Outback was turning south onto Boone Street from the stop sign on Marion Street when the car was hit by the bike, police said. The cyclist was riding northbound on the sidewalk without a light when he stuck the car by the left front tire and quarter panel, according to police.

Traffic on Boone Street was limited to one lane while the collision was investigated. Enforcement action is still pending completion of the investigation.

According to state law, bicycles are to be ridden with traffic on the same directional side of the roadway and have illuminated lights during hours of darkness, police said.
