3-car wreck closes 101 north of Hoquiam for five hours Monday

A three-vehicle wreck on Highway 101 north of Hoquiam sent one person to the hospital and closed the roadway for five hours Monday afternoon.

According to a State Patrol report, a 26-year-old Humptulips man was southbound in a Dodge Ram pickup near Ocean Beach Road when he crossed the centerline and struck a 2019 Peterbilt log truck — driven northbound by a 64-year-old Humptulips man — head-on.

The third vehicle, a northbound 2019 Ford pickup driven by a 42-year-old Hoquiam man, swerved into the northbound ditch to avoid the collision, according to the report.

The Dodge and Peterbilt were totaled. The driver of the Dodge was injured and taken to Grays Harbor Community Hospital. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
