Letter: Local firm comes through for McCleary Museum

Hometown Electric helped the McCleary Museum and Heritage Center out of a tight spot. Our bid to purchase the United Methodist Church in McCleary was accepted but we could not obtain the title to the building until we got insurance. The Church is holding the mortgage and of course, wanted to protect their interest. When we applied for insurance we were asked if there was old knob and tube wiring still in use. Well, yes, and it looked like the original electric panel from 1926. While every electrician that looked at it said it was in good shape, the insurance company still wanted it replaced. The insurance company said they would issue insurance once we had a contract with an electrician, and then we were to have it completed in a 35-day period.

We had several bids and the work was extensive. Hometown Electric came in with the acceptable bid, and because of the nature of their business, they would have to do our replacement project between their other obligations. Could it be done in 35 days? We were told they would do their best.

Well, we want to tell you, their best was great – they even worked Saturdays – they normally take weekends off.

And they got the work done in time and under budget! On time and Underbudget. When have you heard that recently?
