Patrick O’Donnell, owner of City Center Drug Co., — 108 E. Wishkah St., in Aberdeen — stands on the right with his staff inside the pharmacy. The store will be in operation through end of business on Dec. 27. Then, starting on Dec. 28, the prescription records will transfer to Rite Aid. People can either use Rite Aid, or they can transfer to another pharmacy if they so choose. O’Donnell, who has owned the pharmacy since the mid-2000s, would rather keep the pharmacy open, but after trying to keep it open, he feels he has no other choice but to close it.

Riley Gilbert, 14, received her first Christmas gift — a new bike — Saturday. Riley, who hasn’t had a new bike in a couple of years, rode her North Carolina Tar Heel-painted bike around as she and her mom, Kim, smiled. The bike is courtesy of the Aberdeen Lions Club’s program “Bicycles from Heaven,” which, after a simple application through the Salvation Army, provides children and teenagers bikes. Riley can’t wait to show hers off to her friends.
