The city of Aberdeen made two purchases of a few homes on the north side of Summit Street in East Aberdeen. The first purchase was $100,000 for three lots in the 1200 block of Summit Street. The second purchase was for a home at 109 South Fleet Street, which was a “total loss” from a fire. That purchase cost the city $35,000, according to Rick Sangder, the city’s Public Works director. The purchases were made in order to raze the homes and clean up the area. “The properties were purchased in anticipation of a future project to address the traffic conditions in the alley behind Starbucks and Aaron’s,” Sangder said Monday afternoon.
