The Driftwood Players in Aberdeen are presenting “Still Life with Iris” through May 14.

The play, written by Steven Dietz and directed by Alex Eddy, is a fantasy in two acts for all ages. Performances are being held at the Driftwood Playhouse in Aberdeen every Friday and Saturday through May 13, culminating with one Sunday matinee May 14.

Iris lives with her mom in the land of Nocturno, a magical place where the workers make, by night, all of the things we see in the world by day. In Nocturno, memories do not reside in people’s minds, but are kept in their coats (called Past Coats).

The rulers of Nocturno are determined to have the best of everything on their island, so they take Iris away from her home to make her their daughter. To ease the pain of this separation, they remove her Past Coat, leaving her with no memory of her home or family.

Iris is left with a single button from her coat. Using it as a clue, she and her newfound friends search for home.

Tickets are $15. Rush tickets are available for $10 the night of each performance with student ID.
